You were probably thinking, "Who are these sexy librarian girls?"
Don't worry. It's still us. We're just wearing glasses.
Just because we're not in school right now doesn't mean we can't look scholarly, right?

Right now, we're loving the eye wear from Oliver Peoples.
They take nerdy chic to a whole new level.
Check out this Oliver Peoples ad campaign featuring our homegirl, Zooey D.

Maybe we want to be her.

Give a girl a maxi dress, she's gonna want some more maxi dresses.
Lots more.
It's true. We have Maxi Fever. It's like Bieber Fever, but much more detrimental to our wallets.

The skirt was a b-day gift from our sweet roomie, Chelsea, bought while studying abroad in London.
Love her. Love this skirt.

Oh. And remember that time when we said we were going to learn how to waterfall braid hair?
Well looky here.
Lauren's pride and joy
Next on the craft adventure agenda:

This one requires us to use a sewing machine. This should be good.
Stay tuned.

I lost my number, so can I have yours?

In a futile attempt to get tan this summer, we've been spending a lot of time at the local waterpark, Seven Peaks. We've been realizing that waterparks provide the best people watching.

You've got the dads with curiously nice bodies, adorable babies in their babykinis (baby bikinis), lifeguards who always seem to hate their lives, and then you've got the two girls stuffing their faces with Dippin Dots and snow cones (that's us).

We've also learned that we're quite the hot commodities among the Seven Peaks crowd. We get hit on at least once a day. Okay, maybe only once a day. And maybe they're usually around 13 years old.

Sorry boys. Saying that you're "almost in high school" doesn't even make it almost legal.

See title for an example of pick up lines used by said 13-year-olds. Where do they even learn this kind of stuff?
Why can't the boys that hit on us look like this?
Yeah. We went there.
A girl can dream.
If you like seeing that face as much as we do, go watch Water for Elephants. You get to see a lot of it. And it's a good thing.

Adventures with Mary-Kate

The other night something magical happened. A puppy showed up in our midst and spent the night in our apartment. Cathy (our landlady), if you are reading this, please don't murder us.

Actually the puppy belonged to the sister of one of our roommates. But for the night, she was ours.
Meet Mary-Kate
Okay so her name was actually Coco. But maybe we have a slight obsession with the Olsen twins. Doesn't everybody? (Say what you will about New York Minute. It was funny and you know it.)

side note: If there is anyone else out there with a slight Olsen twin obsession, this song is for you. We think of it as an anthem of sorts.
We're normal.
In other news, Lauren got her hair cut today. I guess you know your hair is too long when you can cut off 7 or 8 inches and nobody notices. But maybe it's noticeable this time? Madison is considering a slightly drastic haircut too. Maybe to her shoulders? Thoughts?

Shimmy and a Shake

A funny conversation that occurred while Lauren was studying for finals:
L- "I think I have ADD. I looked it up. I have all the symptoms."
M- "Stop it, you're being such a necrophiliac."
L- ".... do you mean hypochondriac?"
M- "Yeah... that."

(For those of you who don't know their psychological disorders, a hypochondriac is someone who constantly thinks they are sick all the time, while a necrophiliac is someone who has sex with dead bodies. May we just inform you that Madison is a psychology major. Maybe she was just studying too much. Let's go with that.)

With the end of finals, we decided it was time for yummy hamburgers and bla-blee-bloops. Also known as milkshakes. So we headed over to the hottest burger joint in town:
They know us there. It's almost embarrassing.
Sammy's in Provo has delicious burgers and french fries and milkshakes. They bring all the boys to the yard. Even the lactose intolerant. But they don't just have normal milkshakes... they take slices of  pies and mix em in with your milkshake; meet the Pieshake, friends. Sammy's is delicious in a "this is clogging the crap out of my arteries, but totally worth it" sort of way.

And we were surprised to find out we were getting a dinner AND a show. Yep, Sammy's holds free concerts every Friday night. What's up with Utah and free concerts? We don't know, but we likey.
We're not sure who he was, but he came into our life and rocked it with his sweet, soulful voice.

We don't know what this band was called either. If any of you know, let us know.
We might have stolen some quick pics beforehand, also:

We understand these pictures aren't great quality. You can click on them to see them in their full glory. We're still trying to figure this whole blogging thing out.
We sometimes wish there was easier way to format pictures and posts. If there is, please let us know. Thanks.

Peace out, Girl Scout.

Do you have any Sweet Freedom?

Cause we do. We finished finals this week. Sorry school, we need a break. We'll see you again in the fall. It's not you, it's us. Just kidding... it's always been you.

Well now that we have all this free time, we can fill it up with all the cool things that we like to do!
Summer to do list:
1. Try to enjoy nature or whatever. Go on hikes, lie in the grass, breathe in the fresh air. I mean, if you're into that kind of thing.
2. DISNEYLAND! It's not for sure yet, but we are dying to go. Maybe we are 20 years old and still obsessed with Disneyland. Is that going to stop us? No. But the fact that we'll have to give up eating for a month in order to afford tickets might.
3. We're not wearing pants anymore. Just kidding. We wish.
4. Shave our legs. Well at least enough to not look like our legs were replaced with Sasquatch legs.
5. Twilight Concert Series. Maybe living in Utah has its perks. Summers in Salt Lake City mean free concerts on Thursdays featuring bands that we know and love, and would usually have to pay upwards of $30 to see. This year the concert series is featuring the likes of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Bright Eyes, Lupe Fiasco, and more! Weeeeee! Free concerts: YES PLEASE.
6. Shower less. This is what we look forward to every summer. Pools are like big bath tubs anyways.
7. Eat LOTS of ice cream. Okay, this is something we do year round. But this summer we're on a mission to find the best ice cream/yogurt/gelato in Utah. Suggestions anyone?
8. Teach Madison how to ride a bike. We mentioned this in an earlier post, but it's THAT important.
9. Closet Revamp. Out with the old, in with the new. New seasons brings the need for a new wardrobe, and getting rid of things we don't wear anymore. What do we do with all our old clothes? There's a lot of great consignment stores (like Plato's Closet) that will buy your old clothes and offer sweet, cold, hard cash for them.
10. Weddings, Weddings Everywhere! No, not ours (We're fine. We'll be okay. We have each other, right?). But our little rommate, Kelsey Jones is becoming Kelsey Fanning in a matter of months. Follow her sass-filled pre-wedding chronicles here

It wasn't even Fourth of July!

Sometimes in Utah, there are fireworks for no apparent reason! We stopped in the Smiths parking lot to witness the beautiful Explosions in the Sky.

We laughed, we cried, we danced, we sang. We even got kind of patriotic (Still wasn't 4th of July).
Madison's sister, Britney was there to document. As you will hear, her voice is like a Catholic boys choir ringing through the cathedrals of Rome.

That was embarrassing hot.

Crafts n' Crap

We came across this website today called Craftgawker. It's full of cute and simple DIY craft ideas, tutorials, and inspiration. Maybe it was just one of those rare occasions where we feel an urge to be all artsy fartsy, but we've made it a goal to try them all out. Maybe even chronicle our arts and crafts adventures to share on the blog. It's about to get all Martha Stewart up in here.

Check out http://craftgawker.com/popular/favorites/ and try some yourself!

On the website, we found a link to a tutorial for this:
We likey. It's called a "Waterfall braid" and it reminds us of mermaid princess hair. The tutorial can be found [here].

In other news, there was a huge sale at Anthropologie this weekend, which means bad things for us. Or really good things, depending on how you look at it. But seriously, 25% off of already reduced sale?!?! It would be a crime to the fashion gods to NOT take advantage of that.

No, that's not the mall behind her...

Like it when the girls stop by. For the summer.

If you've ever lived in Utah, you would know that the weather is as crazy as a one-legged man in a butt kicking contest. Sometimes it's 60 degrees in the middle of December. Sometimes it's snowing in the middle of June. You never know what you're gonna get (spoken like Forrest Gump). But last Sunday, we think the weather gods finally shewed mercy upon poor Provo and gave us some beautiful summer weather. So this is what we did:

We layed in the sun!
We did some light reading
When we say "light reading" we really mean, Madison read her textbook while Lauren read about the Biebs. (Yes it's true. We watched Never Say Never and contracted Bieber Fever). We're not ashamed to say we have a crush on a 17-year-old. But please don't tell the cops.

Madison learned how to ride a scooter! One two wheeled transportation device down, one to go! (Next she is learning how to ride a bike). Check out that concentration and technique. So proud of her!

We don't know about you, but with all these summer activities, one song comes to mind. So here's to all you Summer Girls out there:

Iron and Wine

This past weekend we went to an Iron and Wine concert in Salt Lake City. For those of you who don't know what that is or means, take a gander. So we saw some of this:
And a little bit of this:
But mostly we saw a lot of this crazy dancing guy with the most euphoric smile on his face, while clenching two Iron and Wine vinyl albums. I wish we got a picture so bad.

On our way there, we passed a gay bar called "The Trap". Maybe it's just us, but we think they should consider a serious name change.

While waiting for the band to perform, we stood by a boy who then proceeded to inform us that he needed to go "number 2 real bad" and warned us about the upcoming "stinkies" he might let out. So we didn't stand by him much longer after that. Isn't Salt Lake great?

Also, that balding guy up there with the beard is Sam Beam, the brains behind Iron and Wine. We want to marry his voice. Is that possible? Seriously it's like the heavens opened up and his voice was hand delivered to Earth by an angel. Check it out.

Well let's get down to the nitty gritty:
Top: Forever21, Shorts: F21, Sandals: American Ealge

We can't express to you enough the importance of owning a pair of crazy shorts. Like these high waisted red ones. They'll change your life. Check out Mad's metallic pair of shawts down there.

This is so happening.

It's us! Maddie on the Left, Lauren on the Right.

Well friends, we did it. After vigorously stalking other fashion blogs, we decided to grab life by the horns and start our very own. After all, this is the summer of reckless abandon. We figured we should probably put our shopping habits to good use and share our finds with all you lovelies out there and show the world who we are. We weren't sure how to start this sucker off, so we thought that introducing ourselves would probably be the most natural thing to do right now.

Madison
Bienvenidos! I'm a simple gal of simple tastes. I'm a fan of chocolate, romantic comedies, and shoes. I like anything pertaining to kittens. Not cats. Kittens. I am a newcomer to Zumba. For those who are thinking, "what the heck is that?" it is a mixture of aerobics and Spanishy dancing. Ya. It can't get anymore awesome than that. I also have a lazy eye. Maybe I'll let you guys see it some day. This phenomena usually takes place when I'm looking in a weirdy direction or I'm super tired. I also cannot ride a bike. I'm not confessing this because I am proud, this is actually a handicap I have had to live with my whole life. I would like to think my genetics are to blame, but we can never really sure with those things, can we? Lauren and I are also avid Youtube watchers. We love all things Lonely Island and things that are just plain strange. I take pleasure in relaxing music, picnics, and maple doughnuts. Clothes wise, I like Anthropologie, high waisted pants, boots, anything cream, and lace. Now on to my sassy and classy besty lor lor...

Lauren
Hello world. I have brown hair, brown eyes, and brown skin. Half brown technically. I enjoy good sounding music, dry humor, and matching outfits with my friends (intentionally and unintentionally). I spend most of my time reading Wikipedia and watching Youtube (I just realized Mads mentioned that already, you'll get used to that) and Mary-Kate and Ashley movies. When I'm not doing that, I'm either in class, knitting, or singing karaoke on a Saturday night. You can often find us speaking in Meows to each other, dancing on the furniture, and drinking mocktails. I have a phobia of expired food, so if I'm ever eating food at your house and insist on checking the expiration date, please don't be offended. I love California. I love design. I love clothes. When it comes to fashion, I like whatever I feel comfy in. I like big soft T-shirts, white dresses, leather satchels, and anything inspired by the 1960's-70's. That's pretty much it. We hope you enjoy this, and if you don't ...
Nothing will happen.
