We Likey

Yes, we're making this a weekly thing.

Girl Crush: Emma Roberts
Teen Vogue Photoshoot
We've been fans of Emma ever since Unfabulous, which was a Nickelodeon show we were probably too old to be watching at the time.
Maybe it was lame then, but all of the sudden Emma Roberts started starring in craploads of movies. So I think it's safe to say it's cool to be a fan now.
We just recently saw her in It's Kind of a Funny Story and we're excited to see her in The Art of Getting By.
If you don't know what that is, looky here
(And yes, that's the little boy from August Rush. He's a man now. How did that happen?)

Boy Crush: Dave Franco
oh.
Does his last name sound familiar to you? That's because it is.
For those of you who are just as mesmerized by James Franco's attractiveness as we are, your world is about to get rocked.
He has a little brother.
How can one family carry such good genes?
We don't know, but we like what we're seeing.

Flava of the Week: The Chocolate: A Dessert Cafe
It's 2 in the morning and we're craving cake now. Great.
We've recently stumbled upon The Chocolate, which is a super cute little bakery/cafe in Orem.
Everything about this place is adorable and the fact that the cafe itself is located in an old converted house makes you feel comfy and welcome.
If you're ever in Utah, you definitely have to stop by and try the Pizookie.

What We Want: Colored Denim
Find the goods here
Anthropologie's new line of colored denim is killing us. Softly.
They add a bold pop of color, but are classy enough to keep you from looking like you came from a kid's TV show.
We're loving this kelly green color too.
Ahhh.

Tunes: Cults

This band from New York has been making tunes that will change your world and make you question everything you once knew.
Okay so it's not that dramatic, but still catchy as crap.
Also, this "Supervideo" for the song, "Go Outside" features both Emma Roberts AND Dave Franco.
Coincidence?
 Not really.

Funnies: Kid singing Lady Gaga

Whether it be the 3-sizes-too-small Mickey Mouse jammies, or the banana microphone, or the overweight man walking in the background in his undies (our personal fave), there is not much about this video that doesn't make us giggle.
But his sheer passion for Gaga is going to take him far in life.
And we commend him for that.

Yes, it's a trend that people either love or hate. But we love it. Too much.

Decades

Apparently you can wear your bikini out to "da club" as long as
you add extra criss-cross straps and a matching belt.
This.
This, people, is what our generation has to show for itself.
It's hard to look at, we know.
Paris, whatever you're trying to do here... don't.

Anyways, what we're really getting at here is, where did style go wrong this decade?
All the trends we see these days are simply recycled from bygone eras.
We're not saying people don't dress well anymore. But fashion has seen better times.
And we just have a slight obsession with the 1960's and 70's.
Where everyone was beautiful.
And blissful.
And on a crapload of narcotics.

1960's
top: thrifted, skirt: anthro, scarf: maddux couture,
belt: f21, shoes: miz mooz
Like this Mad Men inspired look, the 60's brought us
structured pencil skirts, bright colors, and bold prints.
And these lovely style icons.
Audrey Hepburn
Twiggy
Jackie O.
Bob Dylan

1970's
top: uo, jeans: vigoss, shoes: ae, belt: ross, necklace: uo
The 70's was effortlessly cool.
Peasant tops, flare jeans, platform shoes.
Not to mention:
Led Zeppelin
Farrah Fawcett
Stevie Nicks
Ziggy Stardust/David Bowie

So much inspiration. So little time. Enjoy.

Maxi Part Deux

We gone dun' it again.
Girlfriend got mo' maxi's.

Well, you know what they say.
If you got em, flaunt em.

And yes, we're still talking about dresses.
top: i heart ronson, skirt/shoes: uo

dress: nordstrom, top: uo, shoes: seychelles,

Oh, and apparently we're obsessed with tying our shirts up.
And I guess we pose the same now too.
And make the exact same faces.

We spend a lot of time together...

The Open Road

When California calls, you answer the phone.
Which is exactly what we did this past week.
So we made the trek across the barren Nevada (and a little bit of Utah) desert to the places of our origin.
Which are conveniently located 2 hours away from each other in Northern California.
What did we do during this ten hour escapade?
Take a looky look:

We enjoyed the sites
Two things Utah is known for:
The Great Salt Lake (left) and its roadside.... art? (right)
Maddie's brother Austin came along for the ride.
The king in his castle... of pillows.
 Nevada is so beautiful.
10 dollar lap dances?!?! What a deal!
We passed by the Morton Salt Company plant.
Making delicious food more delicious since 1848.
Yeah, we looked it up.
Oh, and this was nice too.
So vivid! So intense! What does this mean?

 And that's all she wrote.

Just In Case You Miss Us

So you've probably been wondering where we've been.
Or maybe you haven't even noticed.

Either way, we're sorry.

What started as a quick weekend trip to California for the both of us turned into a week long ordeal for Lauren.
Which makes for a blogging dilemma, considering we are in two different states right now.

So here's a little sumthin-sumthin to hold you over.
Maybe Rebecca Black "Friday" parodies are so 2 months ago.
But because many of you are prepping for the Harry Potter madness tonight,
and this made us giggle,
here you go.

Stay tuned for some crazy awesome road trip pictures soon.
The Nevada desert never looked so good.

Vindicated

It has come to our attention that some people (ahem, MOM) think we have a bit of a "shopping problem".
Whaaaaaaaa?
Why would people think that?
Why do we have to label things?

Well, let's be honest here. We do shop a lot. Whatever. It's what we like to do.
Some people collect rocks.
Some people collect Beanie Babies.
Some people collect those little shot glasses commemorating cities they've visited.
We collect clothes.

But we wanted to set the record straight.
Yes, we like to shop.
BUT, no, we don't spend a lot of money on clothes.

Instead, we like to think of ourselves as connoisseurs of finding freakin' good deals.
How do we do it, you ask?
1. Thrifting! Yes, it can be a little daunting. And a little smelly. And you always end up feeling like you need to wash your hands, but thrifting is a fun way to find one-of-a-kind pieces for super cheap.
2. Always take advantage of sales: It's incredibly rare that we buy any thing full price ever. Nothing hurts our hearts more than when we buy full-priced items, then come back a few weeks later to see our precious baby 50% off. Not cool.
3. Sign up for emails: The only people that email us these days are our favorite stores (we're popular). A lot of the time, stores send promotion codes or access to sales exclusively to those on the email list.
4. Ain't too proud to beg: If you think the store is overcharging you for an item (i.e. an item is supposed to be on sale and they're charging you full price), always have them double check the price. They're usually wrong.
Also, if there's something wrong with an item, (slight damage, missing button, washable stain) always ask for a price cut. Call us cheap, but why pay full price for something that isn't in ship-shape condition?
Most of the time, it's fixable anyways.

top/belt: thrifted, pants: madewell, earrings: target
 See those thrifted lovelies?

Two girls. One shirt.

Once upon a time, Madison wore a shirt
Lauren saw that shirt and thought, "Hey, I like that shirt."
So what did Lauren do?

She bought the same shirt.

Normally this is a friendship fashion no-no.
But at the time, Madison and Lauren weren't living together. Or even in the same city.
So Lauren justified herself.
Fast forward to today, if you will. Madison and Lauren are getting ready for the day.
They come out of their rooms wearing the same exact shirt.
(And basically the same outfit)
So this gave us an idea.
One shirt, worn two ways. Here is the result:

dress it up
top: f21, belt: anthro, skirt: jcrew,
necklace: ae, shoes: thrifted

dress it down
top: f21, pants: banana republic,

P.S. Notice anything different about Madison's hair?

Happy Birthday America!

Happy 4th of July!

We are so grateful to be living in such an awesome country!
The best part about America is that it really knows how to celebrate its independence.
Fireworks, barbecue, parades, good friends, and good times.
(the whistling of bottle rockets is being heard outside as we type this)
Not to mention, it's the one day when you can dress patriotic without people asking why you're dressed patriotic.

We love the U.S.A!

Weddings Shmeddings

Like what you see?
Mawwwwaige. It's what brought us to that photobooth a few days ago.
Madison's oldest brother tied the knot this week and we were there to partake in the festivities.
(other bff, Chelsea came too!)
All this wedding crap is making us want to get married.
No, not because we are emotionally desperate, but because we want to plan a wedding. Bad.
We want to pick out colors, we want to try on dresses, we want to go taste wedding cakes!
We have problems.
Right now, the best we can do is put together this little diddly-doo of our favorite wedding things.
This may or may not be the result of a 2 a.m. future-wedding planning binge:
Oh, that J.Crew model?
That's just an idea of what our husbands are going to look like.
