Ooh Baby Ba-bayy

This weekend we partied like we were turning one.
But seriously, two cute babies were actually turning one.
Those cute kiddos in question are Lauren's niece and nephew (yes, twinners!).
Well, as if we weren't baby crazy enough, we feasted upon the cuteness the whole afternoon.
Not literally. But we did literally feast upon delicious carnitas y cupcakes.
And more cupcakes. Lots more.
Love them!
Want to see more of these adorable one-year-olds?
Follow the chronicles {here}
And maybe while everyone was cleaning up, we decided to do cartwheels and dance moves on the lawn.
Is that so wrong?

Reflections

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Remember that time we made a summer to-do list? Well let's reflect on these past few months and see what we actually accomplished (and didn't accomplish).

Summer have-done list:
1. Three trips to California (none of which actually included Disneyland. next time, when we're not po.)
2. Concerts up the wazoo. Collectively, we saw Iron and Wine, Decemberists, Tally Hall, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Ghostland Observatory, Death Cab for Cutie, Joshua Radin, Lupe Fiasco, and more.
And yes, we're name dropping.
3.  We saw our best friend get married. Bliss.
4. Water park erry day.
5. More fro-yo than you can imagine.
6. Madison didn't learn how to ride a bike. We're still working on that one...
7. Closet revamp so happened. Like that was even a question.
8. We actually didn't shave our legs more than we usually do. Sorry world, for those days when we wear shorts. Madison claims her legs feel like kittens. purrr.
9. Waking up at 1pm. Going to sleep at 5 am. Sorry Mom.

I guess you can say we were really productive this summer. And now as it comes to a close, we cry on the inside thinking of the next few months of homework, snow, and the inevitable slipping on ice when you're walking to school and having to act like it didn't just happen, or overcompensating with awkward laughter as people stare at you. Living in Utah is fun.

Well folks, it's that time of year again.
School starts on Monday... boo.
It's back to textbooks and homework and tests and blah, blah, blah.
But it's not all that bad!
We like to look at the silver lining that comes with the dreaded fall semester.
Towards the end of summer, when all the stores put their tank tops, shorts, and flippy-floppys on clearance and bring out the goods for cool weather, we start to get that familiar itch.
All those cute fall items start calling our names.
 What? You can't hear them?

Anyways, autumn is basically here now, which means we can indulge in all the layering, sweaters, boots, and trench coats we want.
Lucky us!
So we thought we'd share all our favorite trends for this upcoming season.

First we have to deal with the fact that it's almost September now and still 100 degrees in Utah...

We Likey

Girl Crush: Natalie Portman
oh bliss.
We're not sure if NatPo has done anything recently, acting-wise that spurned this sudden affection. But we did find this picture. Which reminded us why we love her. She hawt.

Boy Crush: Ryan Gosling
Do want.
This one was easy. We watched Crazy, Stupid, Love.
He's just the definition of sexy.
(Speaking of definition... his abs? Are you kidding me right now?)
Less of a crush, more of an obsession.

Flava of the Week: Cafe Madeleine
Chocolate Blackberry Tart
Roasted Chicken Panini. With REAL California Avocados. Yum.
When you are a college student ravaged by hunger in Provo,Utah, you go to Subway for a sandwich.
When you are a college student ravaged by hunger in San Francisco, you have a few more options.
And you should probably take advantage of that.
We stopped at this little cafe/bakery/sandwich shop called Cafe Madeleine in Union Square, which we chose solely based on the cute logo. Luckily, the logo was as cute as the food was delicious.

What We Want: Midi Skirts
Like this cute pleated chiffon one from Asos
The Midi Skirt- a close relative of the Maxi.
All the demureness of a maxi skirt, but with added bow chicka wow wow.
Because it lets you show off your sexy ankles and lower calves.

Tunes: Geographer, "Kites"

The falsetto-ridden hook of this song is infectious. Enjoy.

Funnies: Sexy Sax Man

It is often asked, "What is a hero?"
Our answer?
This guy.

Awkward Girls in the City

So it's been a while.
(Every time we hear that phrase, we can't help but start singing the Staind song in our heads. Or out loud.)
But what a week it's been. Or two.
As you can see, we ventured yet again to the land of California.
This time, to see our bff get married. And partake in the festivities.

The Oakland Temple
Bridesmaids!
(And we had different dresses in case you were wondering why Lauren looks like she's wearing white to a wedding)

The crew. Excuse our sweaty faces. We're pretty sure this was right after we rocked it to California Girls by Katy Perry.
The old ball and chain.
Such a lovely wedding it was. And we're so happy for our little Kels.
Love you, lady!

As for us, we took this opportunity to do some ample shopping in San Francisco.
We were overwhelmed. In a good way.
And then of course, we had to do the typical tourist thing and see the Golden Gate Bridge.
And it was awesome. Cold. But awesome.

And now we're back. So blogging is back in full swing.
Till next time, lovelies.

Manic Mondays

stripe top: nordstrom, tank top/bracelet: jcrew, pants/belt: f21, shoes: payless

top: marshalls, pants: tommy hilfiger, shoes: fidgi,

We're too busy today to think of anything witty to talk about.

So we just wanted to leave you with this:
Alexander Ebert from Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros
Not because it relates to anything.
Just because we want to show off the fact that we were there.
And it was awesome.

Well we're off to California soon, but not before we do 9420394 loads of laundry.
Which is what we're going to go do now.
xoxo

Preparations

Goodness Gracious.
It's been a long week.
In between concerts, making preparations for this girl's wedding, and living the life of single college ladies, it seems as though there is not enough time in the day!
AND, our summer is fleeting. Which means fall is coming up soon.
Which means... Fall Semester.
Sorry, we just threw up a little.
And don't even get us started on all the things we need to take care of before then;
Class schedules, counselor meetings, and, oh yeah, planning out our entire academic futures?!?!
But on a more positive note, we're making last minute preparations for the mighty trek back to good ol' California for said wedding, which is very close to San Francisco.
Oh how we miss the Pacific Ocean.
We shall be reunited soon. And pics will follow.
If you know what I mean.
