Guest Post: Pinker on My Side

Today we have the stylin' Meg from Pinker on My Side. Lemme tell you, she definitely knows how to pull unique and fabulous outfits together! Take a looksy below to see what we mean.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yay!!!  I love guest posting and I love Awkward Girls.  So I'm tha-rilled to be doing this.

If you're in my family and having a party....you are dressed fan-cy.  I'd like to say that it's because we are filthy rich (don't we all want that?) and snobby (no one wants that)...but were not.  We just like to dress up all great and crap.

I mean...why not, right?

I just got done with a family party a couple of days ago (go to my blog and you'll see the F.U.N. pics).

So here are some suggestions of what to wear to your festive parties.  Deck the halls with your great clothing.  (Sing it!  It actually kinda works.)

Dress: Vintage, Cardi: Nordstrom, Shoes: Dillards, Belt: J.Crew

Blazer: Thrifted, Blouse: J.Crew, Blue-striped tank: Anthropologie

Um I say yay to plaid--it's quite festive I think.

Dress: Anthropologie, Blouse: J.Crew, tights: Target, Shoes: Anthropologie, Necklace: J.Crew

Go outside the Christmas box and wear YELLOW!

Skirt: Thrifted, Blouse: J.Crew, Necklace: Cherry Lane Boutique, Tights: Target, Shoes: Michael Kors, Belt: J.Crew

So......I know they are all skirts.  I love me a good skirt.  So if you hate yourself a skirt--I've had my eyes on these little puppies for a while now.  Eat your heart out!

Thanks dolls!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We are really digging the pants (obvi) and making plaid festive! She has such classy taste, dontchya think? Mosey on over to her blog and see for yourself!

Guest Post: The Secret Life of Bee

Disclaimer: this will give you a hankerin' for some sweets. Seriously. The Secret Life of Bee is a lovely blog that highlights Bri's adorable married life, marvelous style, her creativity, and anything else that comes her way. It is a true delight. Just like what you are about to read about below.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello all you Awkward Girls readers! I am Bri from The Secret Life of Bee. I am super excited to be over here today. I decided to pass along this awesome recipe that I have been making since high school. It is a guaranteed hit for any Christmas party you may be having or attending this year. These little truffles may not look like much, but they sure are delicious and everyone will be going back for more.

Ingredients: 1 package of Oreos, 1 package (8oz) of cream cheese, Semi-sweet baker's chocolate, and wax paper.

1. Crush Oreos in hand and put in blender.

2. Blend until Oreos are in a thin powder. Do this with the whole package of Oreos.

3. Mix powder with cream cheese. This step takes a little while. It will feel like you don't have enough of something, but do not be fooled. It will mix.

4. The "dough" should look like this.

5 & 6. Prepare baker's chocolate according to its directions.

7. Roll dough into small balls, any size works.

8. Cover in chocolate. I usually stick each peice individually in the melted chocolate and then place on the wax paper. Let cool (in fridge) until chocolate solidifies.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We said you would be hungry. Oh my goodness. We have to go to make these NOW.

And who else looks that cute with chocolate in their mouth? A very select few.
Go to her blog to see more adorableness.

Guest Post: XOXO Rachel Sayumi

Alrighty guys, it's time! Here is one of our lovely friends Rachel. She is as cute as a button, funny, and so sweet! Sounds too good to be true? Take a gander below at her awesome post!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh,heyyyy!
What's up,readers of Awkward Girls!?
My name is Rachel, and I blog over at xoxo Rachel Sayumi.
Before I start,I just want to thank Lauren and Madison for having me over here! I know them personally, and I can testify that they are super duper sweet and stylish ladies. Love you both!
As Christmas approaches, the holiday spirit really comes to life.
And as our holiday spirit rises,well... We like to party.
So. I'm inviting you.
WHAT TO WEAR:
I've always been a HUGE huge hugee fan of UGLY SWEATERS. Seriously. They're hilarious. Unique. Old. And just so much fun. They don't even have to be holiday sweaters (just add a Santa hat!). There's really not a lot of occassions you can wear ugly sweaters to,so I like to take advantage of every opportunity I get to wear a fun sweater! You can find them in pretty much ANY thrift store... Or,if you're suuuuper lucky like me,maybe your grandma will give you one.
Yes. I even wear my grandma's eagle sweater outside of holiday parties.
Best sweater gets a prize!
DJ's PLAYLIST:
A little Buble n' Bieber?
Oh,come on.
Why wouldn't we!?
ACTIVITIES:
*White elephant gift exchange. No questions! I LOVE seeing the crazy gifts people bring! Last year at a holiday party,I gave away a couple cans of soup (poor college kids we are...). In return,I got a flamingo lawn ornament. It was pretty awesome.
*If you really wanna get crazy, you can participate in a round of NOG PONG! Again,at a party last year,my roommate and I participated in a game of nog pong. Let's say we both had to drink a lot of egg nog. It was so much fun.
That is us. Winning the game (in a wolf sweater...).
MOVIE:
I watch it every year. Never gets old. Always keeps me laughin!
FOOD:
Last but not least, the party essential: da grub. Great food=great party,in my opinion!! I love snacking on anything, especially around Christmas time when people really get creative and make some awesome goodies. I'm all over EASY but yummy treats. Nowadays with Pinterest, you can find amazing and easy holiday treat ideas!
Of course, sometimes,it's not as easy as it looks...
uhhhh. This is awkward.
All joking aside *cough* here are a few I have tried/have YET to try!
White chocolate-dipped pretzels sprinkled with crushed candy cane.
Easy. Yummy. Christmasy.
Chocolate-covered Oreo's on a stick. HOW GENIUS IS THIS!? I can't wait to try these out...
And how bout a little do-it-yourself Christmas cookie decorating?
Mmmm!
And of course, although all the holiday shinannigans are absolutely wonderful, let's not forget the reason for the season:
The birth of our Savior,Jesus Christ.
I am so grateful for the miracle of Christmas, and for a God in Heaven who loves us and watches over us!
I hope that as Christmas approaches,we forget not why we are celebrating December 25th.
Never forget the important people in your life. Be charitable to those in need, serve and love one another!
This truly IS the most wonderful time of the year!
Merry Christmas,everyone!
xoxo
Rachel Sayumi.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wouldn't you want an invite to her party? We sure would.
If you like what you see/ love her now just as much as we do, go to her blog and check her out!

P.S. Did anyone else die at the cookie part? Perfect. We couldn't stop laughing. It describes our whole baking experience in a nutshell.

xoxo

It's that time of year...

FINALS ARE OVER!
Huzzah!
Okay, now that that's over, we have some cool stuff planned for this little blog here.

Well Lauren is about to leave for the Bahamas and Madison about to go home with the fam, so blogging will be a little difficult and we're gonna go on a tiny hiatus. Luckily, we have the best blog friends in the world that decided to help us out.
So let us introduce you to:
Yayayayayaya!

They don't know this, but we basically duped them all into planning the Christmas and New Years holidays for us.

So stay tuned for some awesome tutorials, style ideas, recipes, and so much more from some really fabulous ladies!

Oh, and Happy Christmas Break!
Any exciting plans?

xoxo
